Kiki's Hair Transformations!
Here at Tappa we are always looking for things to inspire us. For the third article in our Inspiration Series, we were inspired by one of the biggest things effecting our planet: Climate Change. Throughout their time at Tappa, Kiki and Kyla have enjoyed experimenting with hair colour. From rich naturals, to bright pastels, to your classic ombre, Kyla and our team are always thrilled to have Kiki work her colour magic!

Kiki's hair throughout the years
One of our favourite transformations was Kiki’s inspiration of the ocean – a pastel mint ombre colouring. First, Kyla created an even base because Kiki had inconsistency in colouring from previous dye jobs. Following that, Kyla began by applying a reverse ombre to her hair. This process gave us a solid shadow root for her ombre. Kyla then pre-lightened the ends of her hair to a light blonde as preparation for the blue. Later, she applied a mermaid blue for longevity. To finish this ocean inspired transformation, Kyla applied loose curls to reflect the beautiful colour.
Inspiration for Kiki's hair and the final product
The next transformation, Sunrise, inspired by the beautiful colours in the sky couldn’t have come at a better time – Easter. Kiki wanted a bold colour that would make a statement. What better statement than bright pink! First step: Kyla pre-lightened all of Kiki’s hair. She then applied the lightener again beginning at the middle of her hair, all the way to the ends. This was because Kiki had a colour build up and needed to lift lighter. Kyla then used a variety of Wella’s colour create fashion colours to complete a dimensional and bright statement. With a mixture of hot pinks and magenta, Kiki was holiday ready!

Last but not least, Kiki's hair transformation finishes with a rich butterscotch ombre! To begin this process Kyla had to remove all the pink from Kiki’s previous hair transformation. Because we decided to do a deep root, Kyla left the roots untouched so it would ‘melt’ into the ombre. She then applied a rich toner to the ends of Kiki’s hair and a medium brown tone to the middle of her hair to create a seamless look. Kiki then received an intense hydrating treatment to help sink in the colour, creating a smooth silky finish. Kyla then trimmed, blow dried and styled Kiki’s hair. Six hours later, another incredible transformation is complete!

Both Kyla and Kiki have learned a lot throughout the years of hair transformation! Kiki loves Joico’s K-Pak line to maintain hair strength and quality during her hair changes. The protein in the products allows her to keep her hair healthy and strong during these changes!
