Hair Care - During winter months it is important to give your hair that extra TLC to ensure you maintain good healthy hair constant cold air combined with dry indoor heat can cause stress on your hair strands. Here are some Tappa Tips you can incorporate into your hair care routine.

1. Washing hair less

Right now is the best time to make use of your dry shampoo. Your hair naturally becomes more dry during the winter months with the harshness of cold air. Washing your hair less can ensure that your hair strands are absorbing the natural oils from your scalp.

2. Keep heat down in shower

Hot showers are great but they can be extremely drying to hair as well as skin. Try to turn the heat down during your showers this winter to avoid drying out hair and skin.

3. Deep Conditioner

All hair types can benefit from deep conditioner treatments. Deep conditioner penetrates 2 layers deeper into the hair shaft than a regular conditioner. We recommend doing a treatment like this every 2-3 weeks or at least monthly. This can be very beneficial to the hair encouraging moisture retention.

4. Ensure your hair is fully dry before rushing out the door

Hair is already so fragile when its wet and cold air expands the hair shaft making the hair prone to breakage.

5. Make use of light serum in hair to hold hydration in strands

This is awesome for all hair types as our hair becomes naturally dry in the winter apply hair serum as needed focusing on the ends of the hair. For coily/curly hair or chemically processed hair it is recommended to apply serum daily. Some popular customer choices for hair serums are Sebastian Dark Oil, Paul Michel Super skinny Serum & Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment.

6. Silk Bonnet or Pillow Case

Cotton or wool may feel soft to touch but these fabrics can be damaging to hair, it grips and tugs at individual strands causing breakage, damage and knots. Using a silk bonnet or pillow case will allow your hair to glide with out causing any unwanted knots in the hair or breakage. Silk is a naturally hypoallergenic breathable material. Silk is known to prevent thinning, knots, split ends, frizz, and static by stimulating hydration. TIP* line your wool hairs with silk liking to protect your hair from frizz or breakage. Stop by Tappa and pick up a beautiful silk line pillow case!
